European Vacation
Whoow have i had a week. Ryan and Alex arrived on the 19th and we took them site seeing that night and all the next day. The third day is when we flew to Venice. Venice was great. The canals were cool, and we splurged on a boat ride there. Nothing huge to brag about seeing, it was just cool to be there.
So anyway, We came home from Venice and the next day we spent it grocery shopping trying to get ready for our road trip to Paris and then London. My car has been leaking trani fluid so we thought we might have been screwed but Jess got it stable enough for the trip. We went to a couple of tattoo shops and found one that we liked and scheduled it for the 29th. Alex wanted to get one with us, so that is why we rushed to make the appt.
The next day we drove all the way to Paris...about 4hrs and hit most of the sites that night. It was so great seeing everything at night. We didn't get to do that before. I will be posting some pics. I basically saw all the things I had seen before. We really didn't have time to do anything new because we wanted to make sure they got to see the big ones. Arc'd Triuphm, Eifel Tower, and Louvre.
The next day we drove to the Paris port for the English Channel. We took an hour ferry ride to England which was really cool. The boat is huge and everyone just schedules when the want to get on. There were like 4 decks with bars, casino games and food. We just lounged until we were in England. Jess drove us to London (it was a trip being on the wrong side of the road), and we got to our hotel by midnight. We crashed and woke up at a decent time. We saw the Buckingham Palace from the out side only due to lines. I bought a 30$ tea cup from the 2008 china set of her Highness...I was so surprised about how overwhelmed I was to be there. I actually cried in the gift shop. Then we saw Big Ben and the Parliament and the Tower Bridge of London...that was pretty cool. London Bridge itself is not the original bridge, but they have one there that they light up pink at night. We hit a pub called Hung Drawn and Quartered (referring to how they punished people way back when) and ate the traditional fish and chips. That was neat too. Very good food. Ryan, the husband, and i hung out bored while Jess and Alex went all over the city to get night shots of all the sites (she wants to be a photographer too). The next morning we got up and wanted to tour the inside of Buckingham Palace, but we had to settle for touring London Tower, which was a royal residence for a while. Its where Henry the VIII lived and had all the wives. We got to see the place where he beheaded one of his wives and the church where they found all of the bones of people who were executed. That was very cool for me because between loving history itself and religious history, I was in heaven.
We also got to tour Westminster Abbey where all the memorials for the King and Queens of the past were. That evening we drove to Wimbledon so Alex (played Tennis for 7yrs) and Ryan could tour the tennis stadium. Jess and i hit a local town and had our last British meal. He had fish and chips again, and I had Beef Pie with mash potatoes and gravy with peas. It was awesome.
We really had a blast but we were beat. We had to head back to the ferry and drive 4 hours back home. Jess was such a trooper. We arrived at 4 am and crashed. I had all kinds of jewelry stuff to catch up on and then we had to rush out and make it to our tattoo appts. We had Alex and Ryan try the Turkish Kebabs which they loved and then it was tat time. I got pretty tipsy and then laid down on the chair to be worked on. It just took over and hour and i think it came out great.
K, I know this was short and sweet. We're still all recovering. I will be posting pics on Face book and myspace. I miss everyone.

Bruges
The first weekend after the New Year, Jesse and I went to Bruges, Belgium. It was about a 3 hour drive there to the “Venice of the North.” This city of course is very old. Canals run through it, but were frozen so Jesse didn’t get the boat ride he wanted. We stayed in a quaint bed and Breakfast with only 2 or 3 rooms ran by a family. It really was one of the nicer rooms we’ve ever stayed in, in Europe. She made us breakfast every morning complete with open faced sandwiches, eggs anyway we like and a chocolate fondue machine to dip fruit. From the hotel we walked a good 10-15 mins in the freezing cold (thermals again) and explored old windmills, buildings, and shops.

The first day we climbed the big clock tower 366 steps to a wonderful view of the city and a treat to see the inner workings of the song the bells rang.
We also saw the “Church of our Lady,” which housed an original masterpiece of Michangelo’s sculpture of Madona and Child.

We stopped in to a lace shop and a wonderful man described how things are made and the history that he and his family has been through.

We were also fortunate enough to go through a ice sculpture fair. It was really cool.

As recommended by the locals we found a bar that has been standing since 1500. We went in and had a drink there and marveled over the age of the place. Later we found a chocolate shop and saw that we could warm up on a chocolate drink…it was fantastic. That night we dined at a near by restaurant suggested by our host of the hotel.

The next day we woke up to winter wonderland. Everything was frozen. We toured a museum and took lots of pictures around the city, but one of the most interesting things we saw was in a Basilica. We walked in to this old church where we heard they kept a vile of Jesus’ blood. When we got in there we realized they were actually holding a service. Many people came on pilgrimage from who knows where to see it. There was a man sitting on a throne with the relic in front of him. People were allowed to form a line and one by one lay their hands on it. Each time someone was done the man would wipe the relic down. Jesse and I watched for a little while, and then felt guilty for not sharing the belief and walked out quietly. That night Jesse and I went exploring for a new restaurant and found a little hole in the wall bar. They served the best steak that I have had in Europe. Jesse drove me back to the hotel and went out afterwards to get some night shots of the city. Hope you all enjoy.

trip to states
Hello everyone, I know this is a long time coming so, here it is. Jesse and I spent Thanks Giving in Zermatt, Switzerland. It was so beautiful and peaceful. We rode 10 hours on a bus and then took a train to the village. The village it self is very touristy and has no cars. The average temp was in the teens or less. Everyday we were bundled up with hats gloves and thermals. Walking everywhere was fun, but very cold. The mountain was about a 20 min hike or less. We had to take to lifts up to the ski lodge and then another one up to ski down.

I was feeling over confident having done well on our last ski adventure, so when Jesse told me to get on the lift I didn’t hesitate. Falling right before getting on the lift should have been my first clue. Anyway the darn thing kept going and going and when we finally got off it ran over me because I didn’t move fast enough; clue number two. After that I snow plowed for 2 hours trying to get down that mountain…yeah not fun.

Needless to say I spent the majority of the time exploring the village, shopping and reading. It was a fantastic trip. Being that we were so far away from the hustle and bustle of life I came back feeling so refreshed.
When we got back to German I had only a week before my trip home to the states. I scrambled around getting things done, cleaning, packing and finishing all my information for the recruiters. I even spent two days driving in snow to go to my medical appointment at a near by base. What a mess that was. But all went well and I was off to the homestead.
I only got to spend 2 weeks with family so I am sorry if I didn’t make it to see you. I hardly stayed at the same place more than a day. It was exhausting and fun. Of course I shopped and saw a movie and got hooked on a new book series (finished all four in Jan). Those of you who don’t know Summer had a baby while I was there. I even got to be in the room to see little Mason be born…it was totally amazing. He was 8lbs and 9 ounces, and one my heart from the time he was conceived.

This was one of the hardest times I have ever had on a visit. It was very difficult to leave.
When I got back Jesse and I had a busy Christmas with friends and started the new year off with lots of stress. Everyone should have our soldiers in their thoughts and prayers. Jesse’s mission here has taken on a new level of intensity. All of my paper work was finally turned in. Thank you Melanie Holly and Scott Yow for the letters. My recruiters raved about all of them.
We don’t know exactly where things will go from here but we’re ready to move on. Love and miss you all

The latest
Hey everyone,
Wow, too long since I’ve written right, and some of you have reminded me. The last 2 months have been filled with ups/downs, trips and work. So, lots to say. I probably should break this up but I am gonna write it all, and you guys can take a break and come back and finish. So, July 20 something, Heli and Debbie came for a visit (thank you so much). It was really nice to share what we see and do every day with family. We love
So Debbie and Heli came, and we gave them a day of rest, but that was all they got. From that point on we were off to
There were so many places I wanted to go, but we ran out of time. We talked about going to
It took Jesse and I a few days to really accept it and of course that put a chink in a few of our travel plans. Eventually, however, we made all of the travel and stay arrangements in
The next day we ran all over the city on a Sunday, not really finding a whole lot open, so we decided to make our way to
Once we got to
A week later Heli and Debbie made it back just in time for the end of the Wittlich Pig fest and Jesse and my 7th anniversary. We enjoyed showing them around and sharing with them the German traditions. We ate the traditional pork dinner, indulged in Crepes made with chocolate or apple. We also had a fabulous ride on the Ferris wheel. You could see the whole city.
A few days later Heli and Debbie left, and Jesse and I started getting back in the swing of things. One thing good about vacation is watching movies, tons of site seeing and long walks and runs. Getting back to reality was good and bad. Heli had inspired me greatly to run often and far. She beat out the 3 ½ mile trail day and night while she was with us. Now Heli, I am proud to say I am able to run 2 miles and am now working on the 3rd one. Thanks for the inspiration.
Jesse is working Mid shift now…5pm-5am and will be until January. I am going back and forth between swings and days. We’re working really hard to balance photography, jewelry sales (which are going very well), Jesse started another class for his Masters degree, and family and friends time. I am booked with jewelry parties, and Jesse has ordered back drops, lighting and props. He has turned our bedroom into a studio, and will be ready to practice portraits on our friends soon. Novermber 2oth or so he will have his first huge gig. He will be set up for portraits for the whole base to take advantage of; with me as his side kick taking orders. So lots going on this fall.
My test scores came in from the Air Force qualifying test. They were only mediocre, but it is a small part of the whole package I have to submit in December. Jesse and I are excited of all the possibilities if he or I were commissioned, but we will both be happy and continue as we are now if neither of us make it.
In short ( yeah right) we’re doing great. We really enjoyed the Summer and are sad to see it go. It is already in the 50’s and I have seen fall leaves already. The amount of sunshine we get is dwindling…
We love and miss you all.

Biker Babe
Coming up soon Heli and Debbie will be coming out. I am getting things done slowly but surely to plan trips and make the house comfortable for you guys. Really looking forward to you both coming. We were lucky to have friends who bought a bed they never used and offered it to us free of charge. Its just a matter of getting it from their house to ours. Now that we don't have a truck its difficult. Most people don't have trucks here due to the small roads and parking places here. Anyway, we have plenty of room and plenty to do here in Germany and it will be a blast.
Jesse is TDY right now in England. First time he's been gone in almost a year. Weird. I wasn't phased at first and the very first day it hit me and I was a little bummed. I am over it now...swinging into the work week and realizing I have so much to do. The week he is gone will fly by like nothing.
Jesse and I were able to enjoy last weekend together. He had made plans to go to Hamburg Harley days (five hour trip from here), and spend the weekend with guys, camping and partying. However, he found out that he had to leave Sunday for England and would have to go to Hamburg earlier without the guys. Well, then he invited me to go, and at first I thought, no way do I wanna ride a bike for 5 hours, hang out with a bunch of bikers and camp and then drive back the next day. The excitement he showed, however, at the thought of me going made me say yes. On one condition, that the new back rest and seat come in before the trip and that we get a hotel. We were lucky, it all came in.

So we went and had a really good time. The ride was difficult because after about 45 minutes i needed a break...Jesse obliged and this made our trip around 7 hours instead of 5. I really enjoyed riding with him and seeing the country side.
Anyway the Bike rally was really neat. There were tents lined up with food, Harley merchandise, vendors from all over, and tons of bikers reeling to show off their own bike. We enjoyed looking, and eating and riding all weekend. Thank you Jesse for taking me!!!

So I hope you guys enjoy the pictures and I miss all of you.

Happy Mosel Weekend
I am one tired cookie. So Jesse and I decided we wanted to participate in the Happy Mosel, one day a year that they shut down the main road along the huge river near here along the vineyards, and only allow bicyclers to ride through. Vendors come with food and wine and beer...the road is 70 some miles long. We had plans to ride about 38 miles one way and catch a train back to our vehicles. However, our German friends asked us if we would go riding with them the day before. So last Saturday Jesse and I (having no idea where we were going) drove to our friends house and rode our bikes (and i don't mean motor bikes, the kind you pedal)down to a bus station...from there the bus drove us 45 minutes to a town called Daun, and from there we rode ALL the way back to Wittlich....um yeah that was about 30 miles. We were absolutely, excuse me, I was absolutely exhausted...Jesse hammered out the 30 miles barely breaking a sweat....the first 4 miles or so was pretty much a steady slight climb and the rest of the trip was fairly flat or down hill (those were always nice).
So when we finally got home, knowing we were riding in the Happy Mosel, I toke a nice long hot bath, had dinner and passed out on the couch. I woke up to go up to bed and everything from head to toe was just burning....owwwwie.....Jesse gave me some pain killers and I went to sleep teary eyed....
The next day we did sleep in a little but met our friends to drive down to the Mosel. I was a trooper. I was determined to still ride, and I did. we rode along the river stopping and going to enjoy meals and an occasional glass of wine. About 10 miles down we decided to cross the river and head back the other way....Unfortunately we got a little lost and climbed a HUGE hill into the vineyards and by the time i got up there i was teary eyed again.....
We decided to go back the way we came and head back the last 10 miles back to our cars....not so bad. I just kept cruising up and down the slight inclines and declines and even got a 2nd wind or 2....When we got back to the car I pealed my rear off my bike, stretched and plumped in the car. We finished off the day with a great dinner at a restaurant, no worry of how many calories after all that riding, and said good bye to our friends....all in all it was a great experience that i will enjoy again next year....52 miles in 2 days....whew. I have to get in better shape because next year Jesse wants to do the whole thing.
We went today in the hills around here and 4 miles kicked my butt. The hills are the toughest, but i will get conditioned...and then im gonna run over my husband...lol.
Lots of fun, enjoy the pics.

Ready for Spring
My Lia Sophia party went well, I sold 500$ worth, twice what i needed to have a qualifying party...awesome. I really like working with this company and am thrilled that i took the risk. I just can't wait until i slow down a little. I like being busy and doing things to better myself, but yowza. Im thinking about asking my boss to put me on swing shift so that i have an excuse not to do so much. Why do i have to be a people pleaser? I am happy though, I was so down for a while, but getting a job and keeping busy has made me sainer believe it or not.
The Prague trip went well also. 4 couples went, and we all caravaned there together...about an 8 hour drive with stops and a little stop and go traffic. Czec Republic is just a beautiful as Germany, and the weather was amazing. The city of Prague was quite dirty and littered with graffiti, but the architecture and history of the city made the trip. We didn't see very much considering we were there for a weekend, but it took us awhile to figure out how and where to go. There was a tram (a cable car basically) that picked us up in front of the hotel, and from there it was a matter of deciding what tram number and where to get off. After a couple of goof ups we were able to navigate the city well after that. I thought the country would be a little poorer than it was, but the city itself did not seem that poor. Im sure once you get away from Prague things get ugly.

The architecture was outstanding and very interesting. With my Religious studies i was able to appreciate the cathedrals, synagogues, and churches that were there, more so than the rest of my group. I read everything i could get my hands on and wanted to go into every building i saw. Unfortunately they charge for most everything... I thought it was strange to be charged to go into a church, but apparently that is how the city maintains it self because the country itself is on the poorer side. With that said we saw the Prague castle (not very impressive) and the ST. Vitus cathedral inside the castle. The cathedral was huge and beautiful. It contained a huge silver coffin in remembrance of one of the leaders of the Counter Reformation ( the catholic churches response to the protestant reformation).
I also saw a lot of Hussite shinery and churches. Jon Hus was one of the for runners in the Protestant reformation. He disagreed with the Church only holding sermons in Latin, and at the Bethlehem Chapel (which i did not get to see) he preached the first Catholic Mass in the Czec native language. After that he was burned at the steak and in the Old Town Hall square there is a huge statue in his memory along with 17 (or so) x's in the stone walk plazt that represent those who were beheaded in the name of reformation. Very interesting stuff to me, and sorry if im boring you all.
I also saw the Loretto shrine, which is a copy of a shrine in Italy that holds a chapel (with lots of elaborate gold decor) and a shrine to the Bohemian version of St. Mary ( i know im not explaining this well, but basically Mary was black in the shrine) There was also a treasury there which contained lots of ceremonial Catholic artifacts made from gold and diamond studded, absolutely amazing.
That was the gist of all what we saw, i really had a good time with the people who went and would travel again with them any time. They all said they would go back again, but I saw enough in Prague and want to spend my vacations going to other new places.... I cant wait to mark off my wish list...Italy, Greece, Ireland, etc....it keeps getting bigger too.
Well anyway we're doing well, trying to settle back in after a great mini vacation. and Im still busy as you know what...loving life though, and miss you all.
As soon as I get the chance i will be posting pictures...everyone take care,
Jen
